Tokyo 1964, Judo was for the first time on the Olympic games. The main goal for Japan was a gold medal in the Open Category. But everything changed when Dutchman Anton Geesink appeared on the tatami. 1964 Tokyo. Anton Geesink beat Kaminaga in the final of the Olympics. A japanese judoka was beaten in it’s own country. From that day on Judo was no longer a Japanese sport, but a worldsport.
